FOR ALL THOSE TAKING PART IN THE
SIDNEY PARADE ON FRIDAY, JULY 1st
The arrangements are very similar to last year.
The float will be available at the Sidney
Municipal Yard at the end of Ocean Avenue from
8am on the Parade morning. Anyone who can come
early to help decorate it will be very welcome!
To get to the Municipal Yard, if you are coming
from Victoria, turn right off the Pat Bay
Highway at McTavish Rd (over our extraordinary
new interchange!), then follow the signs to take
Lochside, heading north. After about 1 km, turn
left onto Ocean Ave. Go to the end of the road
(close to the Pat Bay highway again!).
THE PARADE
The Parade starts at 11am and everyone should be
on or with the float by10.30am. THE EXACT
MARSHALLING LOCATION WILL NOT BE KNOWN TILL
EARLY NEXT WEEK, SO THERE WILL BE ONE MORE
E-MAIL ABOUT THIS.
Calvin Cairns will be leading the music again
this year-----thank you so much, Calvin!
Tune list at the end of this e-mail - and on the
website
http://bckitchenparty.com/Sidney%20Parade%20Info.htm
Participants can either
a) come to the float in the Municipal Yard (see
above) any time after 8am to help with
decorating, and then travel on the float to the
marshalling point. (The float will leave the
yard at about 9.30.) The advantage is that after
the parade the float will end up at the
Municipal Yard so your car will be parked in the
right place! OR
b) meet the float at the marshalling point
(still to be announced) by 10.30am.
Dress:
We plan to use straw bales to sit on (like last
year), so bring a blanket or towel for comfort.
Also to have an overall cowboy theme: jeans,
plaid shirts (or VFS T-shirts), cowboy hats and
boots (garden boots would be fine!). If you
don't have a cowboy hat, a funny hat of any kind
will be great!
NB: For any people walking alongside the float
and handing out sweets, we are not allowed to
throw them, only hand them to people. Just so
you know!
Party:
Please remember you are all invited to the
raspberry/strawberry/ swimming-pool party at
1615, McTavish Road, straight after the parade
(~12.30 onwards). See earlier VFS notice for
more details).
Weather:
This year we again have a float with a top, so
we do have some shelter (if it rains a bit.) On
the off-chance that it rains really heavily on
the day, we may not be able to play. If it's
just cloudy with occasional showers, come along
anyway, and we'll hope for the best!
See you all a week on Friday!!

Sidney Parade Marshalling Details
Hi Fiddlers
and friends!
The float
will be at the Sidney Municipal Yard (Ocean
Avenue) from about 8AM (see previous
email) for those who are coming to help
decorate.
For everybody else: We are number 49 in the
Sidney Parade----(there are 85 entries!)
The float will be on Brethour, between
Resthaven and 7th .
Please be there by 10.30. A map link
is provided below -- or you can Google
Brethour in Sidney for yourself. If you
have difficulty finding us, ask any Parade
Marshall for help.
I'm glad to say lots of people have signed
up! If there isn't room for everyone on the
float, we suggest that some of the adults
walk alongside (handing out sweets if they
feel like it!) Parents of very young
fiddlers can of course stay with them on the
float.
Don't forget the party afterwards at 1615,
McTavish Road---the raspberries are way
behind this year, but we'll have some
strawberries instead! (P.S. Any
contributions of food to share will be very
welcome!)
All the parade information is also up on
the VFS website: http://bckitchenparty.com/Sidney%20Parade%20Info.htm
See you all on Friday!
