Last night we
drove through the dark, wet, miserable late-March night,
climbed the steps of Saint Luke's, opened the door and
walked into the most amazing sight I have witnessed in a
long while. How can I thank all of you at the Fiddle
Society for making such a beautiful place for so very many?
On stage,
people of all ages and "abilities" (for we are all able,
aren't we?), playing hard and working together; on the dance
floor, the young, the middle and the old, laughing and
dancing and enjoying each other; on the sides, the elders,
the very young; in the cloakroom, kids playing cards; in the
kitchen, two wonderful women dishing out sweets and friendly
banter...
What a gift
you give to us all (and how I love that our elders and our
babies are welcomed)
I just
thought I'd pass on my mom's thanks for the dance .
She has been to a number of them in the last year or
so, but last night's was the best yet for her. It
was just like the dances she remembered growing up
in Montana in the 30's and 40's. Not too much
organization, lots of room for dancing and
fun, friendly people to tlk to. And she recognized
all the dances! She especially appreciated seeing
that 'French Minuet' again. Thanks Daniel, thanks
everybody!
We all came away from last night's dance feeling it
was probably one of the best so far for us as well.
We all did good and an extra special thank you to
Daniel for coming and helping to make the music what
it is. I know that at times, especially when you’re
working on very little sleep, that it can’t be easy.
We truly do appreciate it. Thanks.
